Introduction
Chapter One of my upcoming book:
Syn
Short for synapse it can be pronounced as sin or sign

World building
Watch my progress as I create an alien civilization based on biology called Lamina.
There are three dimensions in Lamina taken from human mitochondrial DNA, feline mitochondrial DNA and neurotransmitters.
My world’s purpose is to show you art, that I painted with words, using biology as my paintbrush. I would like it to be a thought provoking combination of world building, short stories, and thought experiments.
All the Laminae know of the old universe is that it was a life where what was wrong was justified and what was right was challenged.
Who are the Laminae?
The Laminae are the fantasy race that inhabits Lamina. Their appearance is this:
A face ghostly white, a body black as night. With large eyes possessing a red iris and a small yellow triangle in the middle of their pupils. Long hair as blue as the earth’s sky, a long black tail behind them, and a pair of hooves, with a heel, resembling a pair of high heel shoes.

The Genesis Gate Experiment
What would happen when the current universe has had enough of the knowledge of good and evil?
What if evil lost it’s audience?
This is the first of many thought experiments that will be explored in my book.
Exploring the process of redirecting attention, curiosity and emotional engagement away from what is destructive and morbid and towards something constructive and imaginative.
The intentional shaping of attention, motivation and curiosity patterns toward a new set of possibilities.
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
What is Creative Realignment?
The process of conscious redirection with creative focus away from morbid fascination towards themes of purpose and values.
It’s less about suppressing curiosity and more about reframing imagination into something more constructive and meaningful.
It is about recognizing when your creative impulses are being pulled towards morbid and destructive themes. Recognizing what draws you there and intentionally guiding your creativity towards a more constructive, problem solving approach, with more meaningful and emotionally restorative solutions. Realigning attention, intention and impact and shifting attention away from morbid exploration to creativity that supports growth and insight.
Here is a step by step process:
Awareness - Noticing when your curiosity is being pulled towards morbidity or destruction
Reflection - Asking yourself why these themes feel compelling or familiar
Integration - Building creative habits to reinforce your new direction
Sustaining this alignment - Checking in on yourself to be sure you’re staying on track towards the direction you truly want
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
What Makes This Easier?
Individual Plasticity
Which refers to the change themselves mentally, emotionally, behaviourally and creatively over time in response to new experiences, environments and internal shifts.
It is having the capacity to adapt, learn and reshape our patterns of thinking as circumstances change and also your ability as an individual to transform your inner world.
Here are some simple steps to apply these changes:
Do one small thing differently every day - teaching your brain to better tolerate change.
Ask yourself “What else could be true?” - when you have a strong opinion or emotional response pause and consider one alternative.
Try low-stakes experimentation - pick a habit and test a small variation for a week
Learn something tiny and new - micro learning to keep your mind flexible
Practice “emotional naming” - more accurate labeling of specific feelings
Gently challenge comfort zones - not facing your fears, just nudging them. Small stretches to increase your range.
Create a journal of weekly reflection - take a moment once a week to ask yourself “What did I learn? “What surprised me?” and “What did I handle different than usual?”
Stay curious instead of conclusive - when something bothers or intrigues you shift from “I know this” to “I wonder what this really means”.
Change what you consume - swap a bit of your usual entertainment towards a different genre or a new creator.
Notice a personal “rule” that no longer serves you - plasticity grows when internal rules become more adjustable
This will help train your brain to better accept creative realignment
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
Transforming your mind
What if we were to use plasticity to move from morbid fascination towards creative realignment?
Plasticity starts when you recognize patterns and noticing the pull towards destructive content without feeding it.
Noticing what triggers you and what feeling morbid fascination temporarily satisfies
Instead of fighting the interest, using plasticity to understand what pulls you and others towards destructive content
Morbid themes can temporarily offer intensity, mystery and emotional release. Recognize the value behind the fascination to redirect its energy rather then suppressing it
Substitution instead of trying to eliminate the fascination creative realignment offers re-channeling into creative themes that offer the same drive
Here are some examples:
Fascination with darkness - explore tension and surrealism
Interest in death - explore impermanence, transformation and rebirth
Curiosity about forbidden things - explore boundary pushing creativity or unconventional ascetics
Love of intensity - experiment with bold styles, dramatic contrasts and emotionally charged stories
Gradually exploring new creative directions for example someone could introduce lighter and more symbolic elements into works that touch on dark subjects
Add layers of meaning instead of focusing on shock value
Diversifying your audience’s interpretation and input
The goal isn’t to erase the dark but instead reshape it to a new taste
Creative realignment uses plasticity to build new emotional pathways expressing complexity rather than leaning solely on darkness
The old impulse becomes one ingredient instead of the whole recipe
Understand the draw of morbid curiosity and redirect its energy into more creative themes gradually building your creative identity that is focused on growth rather than fixation
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
Cultural Plasticity
The opportunity for an individual to absorb new cultural influences, reinterpret old ones, and shift creative direction toward themes that are healthier, expansive and align with someone’s goals of what they want to become.
Tapping into cultural plasticity to open up to new interpretations beyond the habitual world view.
Imagining creative realignment through different cultural frames for example: mythological, symbolic, historical accomplishments, humorous and surreal type of themes. Helping fascination evolve into a more creative and less fixated direction.
Here are some steps:
Drawing from diverse cultural material shifting creative impulse into an expanded sense of possibility and inspiration.
Reframing old themes with new lenses as morbid fascination is shifted towards metaphor rather than literal focus, exploring symbolism, adding psychological depth, mythic transformation, and cultural commentary.
Giving someone more ways to express tension, intensity and complexity without relying solely on dark themes.
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
My Goal
I would like to show you some short stories that have the underlying themes of replacing morbid fascination with creative realignment and what this looks like with the use of some abstract world building
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
Lamina
Once the old universe (ours) has reached its end, the collective have matured from their interest in the knowledge of good and evil. Ushering in the new universe, one called Lamina, that has become the next phase in existence.
The universe Lamina is an experiment. Conducted by beings called the Lumine, who exist within the spectrum of ultraviolet light. They wish to establish advanced communication techniques through telepathy as opposed to technology.
The structure of Lamina is designed after the iris and lens of an eye and also the function of rod and cone cells. The iris and lens become both human and feline mitochondrial DNA.
In the middle is what I call a microverse and it’s essentially a cloud of particles that is causing some disruption in the plan for Lamina. The particles are worlds built on biology and are allowed to exist temporarily.
The beginning of the experiment is placing the Laminae into a simulation world called Organelle. Out of safety for the rest of creation they are placed in a more controlled environment as they are isolated by a veil of ignorance until they have reached maturity as a species and it is safe to slowly dissolve this veil.
The concept of time in Lamina is very different from what we are used to. Everything is happening at once, however, only a small window of Lamina is experienced. This gives the illusion to the Laminae that time is linear.
There exists 23 abstract mythology stories that are universal to all of Lamina and are crucial for moving from one region of time into another.
The deity names:
Datura Nightshade - Ruler of the Dopamine era
Sage Obsidian - Ruler of the Serotonin era
Neroli Quicksilver - Ruler of the Endorphins era
Senna Verbena - Ruler of the Oxytocin era
Sangria Vervain - Ruler of the Histamine era
Damiana Kunzite - Ruler of the GABA era
Azalea Stone - Ruler of the Norepinephrine era

Level One Writing Practice
How to structure a story towards creative realignment. Steps:
When describing the environment and the stakes frame it in the terms of potential and curiosity instead of strictly a dangerous situation or person.
Instead of fixating on fear, channel the attention towards observation and problem solving.
Transform the challenge for your catch. Empathize skill and character rather than harm. The danger becomes the opportunity to develop one’s skill rather than just a threat. The response of the characters shifts from fear to creative insight.
The climax transformation. The risky experience becomes growth.
End with the new insight and/or moral choosing curiosity over fear, and alignment instead of chaos.
Show how the encounter changed the perspective.
Once you have a handle on telling simple stories with creative realignment, then you can take it to the next level

Taking a single piece of information and introducing a new idea, a slight change, causing the movement towards the opposite perspective temporarily and then circling back to the original content.
Explore different arrangements of the new material rotating around a single idea with a circle of possibilities exploring twists and turns in the subject matter.
There are the exchange of different perspectives on the meaning behind the new concept.
Think of it as using storytelling to draw a simple picture

Original Telling

Datura Nightshade, the first female deity in Laminae mythology.
She enters the void that exists within oneself and speaks into creation the order of symbols. The symbols become like moving pictures, flowing like the calming waves carrying her voice. In this voice are the instructions to find the ideal grounds, with careful selection, as the temporary meeting place for all life is unfolded and raised up.
Crossing the gap between two conscious realities, the people of Organelle awaken to experience the beginning as the surrounding world becomes luminous with energy.
The first generation of Organelle have spent the hours of darkness protected by a fabric veil as they have entered the wilderness.
The second generation are not a far distance away and it has become time to lead as the generations that follow will find their place while the first generation are to venture out.
The first signal, the first message, the first wavelength sent.
Across the gap there exists another temporary place for the people, their lives are set in a familiar yet distant place. Following the same instruction given by the voice to respond.
As one universe speaks to the other, what seems so distant in our time, there is a response. A symbolic language of symbols, moving pictures and music. Universal in its original state and to become diverse throughout different understandings.
Only those who have been favoured by Datura will experience the first communication, as it is risky and its territory is unknown.

G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR)
GPCR is a seven-transmembrane helix structure coupling to intracellular signaling pathways.
a segment of a protein that repeatedly crosses the cell membrane (spans it) seven times.
Each pass through the membrane forms an alpha-helix structure.
The N-terminus is on the outside, facing the extracellular space, while the C-terminus is on the inside.
The message travels across the world in the form of a helix as the two worlds experience life in linear time brought together in communication on parallels. Think of it as a spectrum set between the two realities.
Every time a message is sent out, and received it gets wound into a coil of information like an old record. The first recording is simply the message:
The end of the universe is not a tragic disaster of death but rather a transformation from its population being entertained by morbid curiosity towards choosing to consume creative material offering new genres of expression over destructive spectacle. This is not death, this is maturity.

The creature with no name
A name would make it familiar, and nothing about it is familiar. Moving slowly, it fades itself into the evening shadows, places where it shouldn’t be. An animal beautiful in the light but ugly and unappealing when in the shadows. Judged as an intrusive beast. Where ignorance of this creature becomes the subject of scary stories to a young minds, those educated in how to track and handle this creature, yawn at the childish boogie man mentality.
The young say kill it, but the mature make the statement, “We don’t kill what we don’t understand.”
The trackers then set out to find and handle the nameless beast as they set up a snare to capture it.
Once caught, the creature lets out a growl to any that approach. To tame this creature, it doesn’t have to be broken with fear or given the order to calm down in a language it doesn’t understand.
To earn its trust, the leading tracker walks along the outside of the beast’s range and sits in the grass. “Yes, the beast is uncomfortable and so am I. Watch as the fear begins to fade when it sees I’m not a threat to its life but instead the fact that I have trapped it as a result of its curiosity.”
The lead tracker then takes out a flute once the beast had stopped growling. And plays a single note smoothly and beautifully, intriguing the beast. Then, what starts off as drizzle becomes heavy rain. The beast then raises its wing to offer shelter from a downpour. The lead tracker, without fear, comes into the territory of the beast.
“You weren’t the one that was dangerous, you were afraid.”
The tracker carefully removes the snare and cuts themselves accidentally during the process. The beast notices the wound and decides to lick it. Not to taste the blood, but instead to use its ability to heal with a gentle lick instead of a dangerous sting. The beast then runs quickly back to the forest, only to stop with a change of heart. Returning to the tracker. Kneeling down in front of the tracker to offer a ride. As the tracker climbs up onto its back, the beats sprints ahead. “In order to tame this creature, I’ll have to do something I have never done before.” The tracker takes the flute and plays a note in its right ear, causing the beast to turn to the right. “It understands” with careful guidance the beast is led back to the village.
What a sight! To ride through the village on the back of a venomous creature the size of a horse. The villagers were afraid and ought to be as they distance themselves. The young with fear and the mature with respectful caution.
At the edge of the village, the beast is heading for the forest. The tracker jumps down from its back as it returns to the forest.

Every animal in Lamina since the beginning of time all stem from a single creature. It’s form is taken from a poisonous sea creature called a blue dragon, combined with a white deer. It is mostly white with a bit of gold on its “wings” and has a small horn on top of its nose.
Its teeth closely resemble that of a dog and its saliva is red. While this creature can possess a deadly sting, its saliva, if it were to lick your wounds, would heal them almost instantly.
Each dimension, time and region “interprets” this creature differently, resulting in many different creatures.
The inspiration for this comes from a tree in Yemen called a Dragon Tree. This tree has a unique umbrella shape and a resin that can be applied to wounds for healing.

Second Story
──── ·:*¨༺ ♱✮♱ ༻¨*:· ────
Datura speaks again into creation an image of one holding the branch of the tree of generations of recognizable faces. Let all familiar from the past generation come to serve in the central place.
Doing This For A Cause
As someone who lives with mental health issues, I feel strongly about the topic of suicide prevention. I would like, with this project, to be able to show people that creation can be an amazing thing. When you are in a dark place, you become isolated from life and you can only see and think lies about yourself and those around you. I survived an attempt and since then I have been searching for purpose.
I’m not able to provide medical advice or therapy but what I can do is create a place to inspire creativity
There is, however, something I can offer.
Read this and repeat after me:
1. I refuse to be a victim
2. I refuse to lay down in defeat
3. I have the right to exist
4. I have the right to be alive
5. I am human
Repeat it out loud. Repeat it until you believe it.
