Before Lamina takes its first breath, the Opsin Rings exist in an “uninformed” state.

The world exists but is yet to be understood, especially when it comes to the Opsin Rings. The people are asleep and don’t yet understand the meaning of their experience.

This is true for both the Ultraviolet and Infrared space. In the uninformed state, it appears as a prison, inhabited by people who have committed no crimes.

The Opsin Rings as a prison is living in assumption 

Now that the assumption has been made, Lamina thinks that’s what it should be and the ignorance of the voices are having a direct influence on how the rings behave when observed

As Lamina breathes in, the world becomes “informed” 

A very important part of Lamina is the Opsin Portal. It’s made of two flat rings stacked on top of each other as the two rings “communicate” with each other. Each ring has 11 sections, resembling mtDNA genes but smaller and more universal.

As Lamina “breathes in” knowledge is pulled into the portal.

Think of that knowledge as a spark of light. As it hits the portal it however, doesn’t go in right away it spins around the outer ring. The communication has a direct effect on this piece of knowledge.

The first pieces of knowledge to enter the portal, are the building blocks of Ixchel and Nuclumito. 

When the information is being processed, the sections of the Opsin Portal “agree” and “disagree”

Nuclumito itself takes an interest in these disagreements and likes to play with them.

The knowledge that has been “agreed” upon moves to the center of the portal. The spark of creation likes it.

The first group of characters, referred to as the “Voices” enter the picture.

They have a way with words as their programmed speech patterns resemble the genes of different creatures. Some true, others fabricated legends.

Nuclumito rides the small gap between the ultraviolet ring and the compacted infrared. As the two rings communicate with each other.

The 11 sections have the infrared ring structured so that it’s two tRNA’s at a time

How darkness tries to overshadow the realm:

Small, rigid, a prison realm that is in the Ultraviolet spectrum. This realm demands uniformity and breeds apathy. For the most part, the Lumine are invisible. 

They are only allowed to take on this form:

Under a floor-length black robe are bodies that appear like the universe. Mostly covered except for the face, hands, and feet. Their eyes large and red with a piercing white and small pupil, their face ghostly white, with no distinction of gender or race. Uniform, emotionless, and apathetic.

Their speech is limited to no more than five words  on a particular subject. So they have to make communication potent.

There is another strict rule:

Only twelve are allowed to take form at a time. Without form they are unable to be seen or communicate. They are prohibited from having names and their voice is monotone without sounding male or female.

The Lumine are trapped and dying. They need to get out, but how?
