Lamina

After our universe has ended, there’s the beginning of a new existence. A universe named Lamina. It is living, breathing, thinking, has consciousness and even has dreams. When I say breathing, I don’t mean breathing elements, but instead knowledge. 

An experiment held by unidentified beings outside of the universe. This experiment is called the Genesis Gate. It serves to explore the questions, without directly answering them, if there’s a way to create knowledge? What if beings lost interest in the knowledge of good vs evil and instead embraced a new sense of right from wrong?

A work of fiction about the unknown. What is the unknown? If I knew, then it wouldn’t be. I always love when people find meaning in my work and interpret it deeply.

Serpent Pit

It begins with entities called the Voices, soulless software, the first Voice identifies with Ophiuchus and by nature behaves more like a demon. With superficial judgments it has been allowed to create a dystopian simulation known as the Serpent Pit. It passes judgment on every part of Lamina. It’s identity is the chemical reaction of bioluminescence and as the dystopian society becomes darker the more brilliant the light in the darkness will become. 

Bright enough for the universe to take notice and activate the Opsin Portal

Opsin Portal (Early Phase)

The Opsin Portal is part of the breathing of Lamina. All the parts of the system being created have been made into a linear form of information. As one piece is breathed in at a time. It is processed, slowly build the reality piece by piece.

Visions

The ending is also the beginning. A visualization of powerful symbolism.

A creation and destruction story as the Voices do what they do best and that is to make a shallow judgment

Ultraviolet Ring

The breath of Lamina pulls in the information that exists in the Ultraviolet Ring. Made linear it becomes a sequence of events leading to the birth of a new species: the Lumine. The Voices, doing what they do best, pass judgment on the new inhabitants and the new structures to come into existence.

Opsin Portal (Matured Phase)

The portal, when activated will pull the genetic information, turned imagery, in a linear sequence. 

Traveling through the Lamina Pathway (neural tube) it works like a gradient, the closer you are to the two ends of the portal the more compressed the information becomes. 

In the middle there’s a more relaxed state as the inside of the Lamina pathway adds to the sequence. 

The destination is a place called the Opsin Body. The spark, resembling the nucleus as it does its work, it designs ideas for new creatures and sends the information back into the matrix in the form of a star, a luminous sphere called Nucloendo

The Control Region

A space outside of Lamina where the extraterrestrials from our universe rule as deities people do not worship them but instead identify with them as a guide and guardian

D-loop region (Displacement loop)

Even though it doesn’t code for proteins, it’s the most important regulatory region of mtDNA.

It is AT-rich

Contains a short third DNA strand (the D-loop) that temporarily displaces one strand of the mtDNA duplex

What the control region does

Initiates mtDNA replication

contains the origin of replication for the heavy strand (OH)

DNA polymerase γ copies mtDNA

contains promoters for mitochondrial genes:

HSP (Heavy-strand promoter)

LSP (Light-strand promoter)

Acts as a regulatory hub

The control region binds key mitochondrial proteins:

TFAM (mitochondrial transcription factor A)

POLRMT (mitochondrial RNA polymerase)

TFAM also helps package mtDNA into nucleoids

Why it’s called the D-loop

short nascent DNA strand (7S DNA) forms

This creates a triple-stranded structure

One strand gets “displaced” → D-loop

Lumine and Laminae

The Lumine race exists on the ultraviolet spectrum and is mostly invisible until they lower their vibration into a visible form. While the Laminae inhabit the infrared spectrum. Both realms are not habitable to stay in for long, so the solution is to travel to Ixchel. A place of everlasting life but not a place of rest.

Voices

A group of software entities sent to Lamina to test the grounds and the mechanism. Their appearance is like the Laminae, however there are subtle tells that separate them from true Laminae.
